2026 Michigan Coulter Advisory Board

U-M BME’s Coulter Advisory Board Evaluates Project Entries

The University of Michigan Coulter Translational Research Partnership Program Coulter Advisory Board (CAB) is comprised of external medical device, pharma and investor advisors who support Coulter efforts in the evaluation of new project proposals and provide strategic guidance for
project teams under evaluation for funding in support of the Coulter Program goal of bringing medical innovations into healthcare.

CAB activities with the Coulter program are designed to provide an opportunity for generating industry and investor input on University of Michigan engineering and faculty projects for project teams seeking Coulter funding. The objective of the CAB is to provide insights, comments,
questions and concerns related to the commercial viability of projects, provide guidance for the Coulter due diligence process in the evaluation of projects for funding, and help project teams with new product strategic planning and milestone development.

CAB members are matched to project teams based on experience and act as business advisors speaking from their years of experience working with comparable therapeutics, diagnostics or device projects. Advisors are called upon to provide both subject matter expertise as well as
business advice from their deep well of experience with biomedical technology commercialization, fund raising, and investing in new technologies.

CAB activities are structured in two phases; an initial first pass evaluation of Initial Letters of Intent (LOIs) and a second phase working with LOI teams selected for final funding consideration on a second pass review of their full proposals to provide insights on milestone development and
strategy.

The CAB is considered a unique and extremely valuable service provided by the UM Coulter Program and great opportunity for UM engineering and clinical faculty, and students working on projects.

We greatly value Advisor time and input provided during this process and would like to recognize the 2026 CAB members.
