Bruce Markham, Ph.D.

Dr. Markham is a Mentor-In-Residence with the Office of Technology Transfer at the University of Michigan.  He was previously the CEO of two University of Michigan Start-up companies, Phrixus Pharmaceuticals Inc. and Diapin Therapeutics LLC. With Phrixus, as CSO, he was responsible for moving an interesting academic idea into clinical development while raising money to fund the research and development. As CEO of Diapin, he oversaw the development of an antiplatelet drug into the clinic and a metabolic disease therapy into IND enabling studies. Prior to Phrixus, Dr. Markham was a Research Fellow at Pfizer in the cardiovascular therapeutic area where he chaired project teams, disease focus groups and was instrumental in developing 6 clinical candidate compounds, all while serving on site and global governance teams. He also served on 2 development teams and was a member of the CV licensing team for Parke-Davis. Prior to working at Parke-Davis/Pfizer, Bruce was an Associate Professor of Physiology at the Medical College of Wisconsin, a member of the Cardiovascular Research Center and an Established Investigator of the American Heart Association with over 30 published peer-reviewed articles and service on national study sections (NIH/AHA).
