Strategic Plan
The University of Michigan Biomedical Engineering department’s 5-year strategic plan for 2025-2030 builds upon the foundation of our past strategic efforts while responding to the challenges and opportunities of a rapidly changing world. This plan highlights our focus on our global impact and leadership, the future of artificial intelligence, and our people, which will enable us to deliver transformative student experiences, expand our research impact, and strengthen the foundations of our community.
This plan builds on Michigan Engineering’s and Michigan Medicine’s legacy of excellence, innovation, and collaboration to chart a bold course for the next five years and beyond.

Because we are positioned as a joint department, Michigan BME combines the strengths of two schools that are among the very best in their fields – the U-M College of Engineering and Michigan Medical School. We are one of only a handful of universities in the country with this breadth and depth of excellence.
