Mike Markert brings 40 years of expertise in the field of cardiovascular implants, disposables, and capital equipment, having contributed significantly to both established corporations and early-stage ventures. His career is marked by leadership roles that span business development, marketing, and executive management within the medical device industry.

Mike’s tenure at W.L. Gore & Associates began in 2004. He led the Business Development efforts within the Medical Products Division, where he was instrumental in completing venture investments and acquisitions totaling approximately $100 million. As the leader of the Structural Heart Business Unit, Mike successfully launched new products, shaped the portfolio strategy, and drove a remarkable 60% increase in revenues. Over the years, he has held several leadership positions in marketing and business development across the Peripheral Vascular, Minimally Invasive Surgery, and Incubator Businesses at Gore. Additionally, he served as President of Pipeline Medical Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Gore.

Mike has served on the Boards of Directors for InterShunt and Cagent Vascular and has acted as a Board Observer for VADovations, Inc. His commitment to the industry extends to his role as a Member of the Arizona Biosciences Board, various AdvaMed committees and as a mentor for The University of Michigan Coulter Translational Research Partnership.

Prior to joining Gore, Mike worked in medical robotics at Computer Motion, Inc. and Intuitive Surgical, focusing on the development of physician-controlled slave robotic instruments aimed at enabling minimally invasive procedures. He also dedicated 13 years to Baxter Healthcare, Inc. within the Edwards and Bentley Divisions, where he held various positions in sales, sales leadership, and marketing within the company’s Cardiovascular Group.

Mike holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from San Diego State University. He is also certified as an Emergency Medical Technician.
