Matt Weber is a medical device leader with more than 20 years of experience guiding product development, commercialization, and operations. He has led multidisciplinary teams across the full product lifecycle, from early concept development and user-driven prototyping through manufacturing scale-up and market introduction. His career has focused on translating technical innovation into practical, market-ready solutions that deliver meaningful value to patients and customers.

Most recently, Matt served as Vice President of R&D and Operations at FlexDex Surgical, a University of Michigan–based startup, where he oversaw the full product lifecycle and led the development and market introduction of the AXIUS Needle Driver, a novel articulating minimally invasive surgical instrument. His work spanned early prototyping, regulatory readiness, manufacturing scale-up, and intellectual property strategy. Earlier in his career at NuStep, Matt played a key leadership role in the development and successful launch of multiple commercial rehabilitation and fitness platforms, working closely with customers, clinicians, and manufacturing teams to bring differentiated products to market.

Today, Matt works as an independent consultant, partnering with product development teams and early-stage companies to provide strategic direction, execution discipline, and pragmatic leadership for complex innovation efforts. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Michigan and a Master of Engineering Management from Eastern Michigan University, and has remained actively engaged with the University of Michigan throughout his career through applied research collaboration, mentorship, and sponsorship of engineering capstone projects.
