EMERGE is an in-person event happening from September 24-27 in Ann Arbor that will allow non-UM participants to learn what it takes to be a successful Michigan Engineering doctoral student and future leader in their discipline by:
- Learning about the Michigan Engineering full-funding model for PhD programs;
- Attending workshops and activities that will best prepare them to navigate the graduate school admissions process;
- Networking with faculty, staff, and current PhD students;
- Touring world-class facilities across the broader UM campus; and
- Learning more about Michigan Engineering’s vision and values will help them assess alignment with their personal and professional goals.
How to Apply
- Demonstrated interest in pursuing a Ph.D. degree in engineering.
- Junior or senior standing, wanting to apply for Fall 2026 or Fall 2027 admission.
- Prospective students who have recently graduated with a bachelor’s or are currently pursuing a master’s degree are also welcome to apply.
- Have a 3.0 cumulative GPA or higher.
- Are a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
- Have a demonstrated and sustained commitment to the academic, professional, or civic realm through work experience, volunteer engagement, or leadership of student or community organizations.
- Current U-M students are not eligible to apply.
