Success Stories

The Coulter Program at the University of Michigan has provided translational research funding leading to several successful commercial exits, in the form of venture capital backed start-up companies and technology licensing to existing companies.

Since program inception in 2006 through 2023, Coulter has funded 66 projects with Evolve full funding and since the C3i/Enlighten program inception in 2015, Coulter has taken 49 project proposal teams through the Enlighten/C3i program.

Results of Coulter funding and support efforts have led to:

• 20 Startup formations
• 14 Startups that raised Angel or Venture Capital financing
• 5 License deals to existing companies
• $362 million in Angel or Venture Capital raised
