The 2026 Biomedical Engineering Symposium with Glenn V. Edmonson Lecture is coming Wednesday, May 13, from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. at NCRC Building 18.
This event is intended to build the BME community across campus and honor the legacy of the first graduate chair of the Biomedical Engineering program. The keynote speaker will be Adam Feinberg, Ph.D., Professor, Biomedical Engineering and Materials Science & Engineering, Carnegie Mellon University.
Dr. Glenn V. Edmonson was a distinguished Professor of Mechanical Engineering who made many important contributions to the University’s missions of education, research, and service during his 30 years on the faculty. In 1962, College of Engineering Dean Stephen S. Attwood asked Dr. Edmonson to assemble a Bioengineering Program for graduate students. Dr. Edmonson was named the first Director of the Program and remained in this post until 1975.
In addition to Dr. Feinberg, this year’s event will feature panel presentations focused on Regenerative Medicine and Mechanobiology; Engineering Immune, Vascular, and Metabolic Microenvironments; Mechanistic Modeling and AI-Enabled Discovery; and Computational and Neural Engineering.
