Congratulations to David Kohn, Professor, Biomedical Engineering, Natalie C. Roberts Professor of Dentistry, Professor, Biologic and Materials Sciences, Director, Translational Resource Center, and Director, Biosciences Initiative in Programmable Biomaterials, for receiving the Society for Biomaterials Award for Service. This award honors significant service to the Society for Biomaterials in establishing, developing, maintaining and promoting its objectives and goals.
“Throughout his distinguished career, Dr. Kohn has contributed meaningfully to every dimension of the Society for Biomaterials’ mission,” said Lynne Jones, Ph.D., Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. “His leadership, commitment, and unwavering dedication have helped shape the trajectory of the Society and the broader biomaterials community. From mentoring the next generation of scientists and engineers to spearheading initiatives that strengthen our professional standards, his impact has been both deep and wide-ranging. He has been actively involved in the Dental Biomaterials SIG, serving as SIG Chair (1996-1999); and has organized numerous symposia (1997- 1999, 2002, 2006). He has been an advocate for community building: serving on the Educational and Professional Development Committee and serving as the University of Michigan Student Chapter Advisor. Dr. Kohn has also played a major role in the leadership of the SFB serving as President, President-Elect, Secretary-Treasurer and as a member of the Long-Range Planning Committee, Task Forces, SFB Board, and SFB Council.”
“SFB has been my scientific and professional home since I was in graduate school, and I am honored to be recognized by the Society,” Dr. Kohn said.
Congratulations also to BME Ph.D. alum Rameshwar Rao, who received the award for Outstanding Research by a Hospital Intern, Resident or Clinical Fellow.
