BME Associate Faculty Member Nicole Seiberlich Honored With Technology & Innovation Award

Technology & Innovation Award recognizes a faculty or staff member whose innovation improves, transforms patient health

Congratulations to Nicole Seiberlich, Ph.D., Professor, Departments of Radiology, Internal Medicine and Biomedical Engineering, on receiving the Technology & Innovation Award, given as part of Michigan Medicine’s Faculty and Staff Awards for 2023. Dr. Seiberlich serves as co-director of the Michigan Institute for Imaging Technology and Translation (MIITT) with Vikas Gulani M.D., Ph.D., Fred Jenner Hodges Professor and Chair, Department of Radiology, with whom she was honored.

The Technology & Innovation Award recognizes a faculty or staff member (either as individual or team) who developed a new research method, technology or innovative service that will radically improve or transform patient health. The work of the nominee(s) exemplifies the process of accelerating ideas, insights, and technologies from the research enterprise out of the university setting via industry partnerships, start-up companies, or other commercial routes. The common theme is that research is accelerating the possible impact of technology or service on patient care.

After a three-year pause due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Michigan Medicine relaunched the awards program this year and expanded its reach to include all of the organization. More than 200 nominations were received.

The purpose of the program is to acknowledge and celebrate those who demonstrate exceptional accomplishment in the areas of teaching, research, clinical care, community service, technology, leadership, teamwork and administration. Faculty recipients receive $2,500 in discretionary support. Staff receive a $2,500 prize.
