Internships, Co-Ops & Careers

Practicing Your Purpose Through Real-World Opportunities

Summer internships typically run from May-August, while Cooperative Education Programs (Co-Ops) offer a longer, more intensive work experience that spans two semesters (8 months). BME students find internships and co-ops in the medical device, pharmaceutical, and biotech industries. Students are encouraged to visit the Engineering Career Resource Center (ECRC) for more information about internship opportunities. These are also great opportunities to network with industry professionals and make potential career connections.

Explore your opportunities

A rich variety of experiential learning opportunities can help you find your niche, connect with people who share your passion, and gain hands-on experience that will distinguish your resume. Reach out for professional growth through the Engineering Career Resouces Center, campus career fairs, and our network of more than 640,000 U-M alumni in 180 countries around the world. U-M BME also hosts a department-only career fair for BME students, special networking opportunities, and consultants to review BME majors’ resumes and provide professional career advice.
