Research Interests
The long-term goal of the Wang laboratory is to develop heart therapies to effectively prolong and improve the life of patients with cardiovascular disease. To achieve this goal, we focus on epigenetic regulation in heart disease, heart repair, and heart regeneration with three major research directions: 1), define essential cross-talks between histone acetylation and acetyl-CoA-mediated energy metabolism in heart repair and regeneration; 2), identify epigenetic and post-translational modification mechanism and related molecules in stimulating reprogramming of fibroblasts into cardiomyocytes for heart regeneration; and 3), explore novel strategies combining optimal cardiovascular cell types and bioengineering/biomaterials for heart cell therapy.
