Research Interests

Dr. Wang’s research group, Optical Imaging Laboratory at the U-M School of Medicine, is focused on imaging and therapeutic system development, and adaptation of novel diagnostic and therapeutic technologies to laboratory research and clinical settings, especially those involving light and ultrasound. One of our research interests is the development and clinical applications of photoacoustic imaging, including those involving breast cancer, inflammatory arthritis, prostate cancer, liver conditions, bowel disease, eye conditions, and brain disorders. Another research topic is the development of a novel therapeutic technology synergistically involving both light and ultrasound, namely photo-mediated ultrasound therapy. Our lab is also developing ionizing radiation acoustic imaging (iRAI) technology which provides a promising solution to map radiation dose distribution in the deep human body during radiation therapy.
