Research Interests
Our group studies engineering education, with the goal of improving engineering education and access for all. Our projects span mental health and wellness in higher education, training in engineering education research, career pathways for engineering students, and broadening participation in engineering. We seek to translate our work into research-based practices for faculty, staff, and students. Recent translation projects include integrating wellness education into engineering curriculum and training engineering faculty in engineering education research methods.

Biography
Dr. Karin Jensen comes to us from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and earned a bachelor’s degree in biological engineering from Cornell University and a Ph.D. in biomedical engineering from the University of Virginia. Her doctoral dissertation focuses on “Systems pharmacology of cell-signaling networks in human disease.”
Professional Service
Dr. Jensen serves as an associate editor of the Journal of Women and Minorities in Science and Engineering. She is also an associate editor for Biomedical Engineering Education.
Awards
Dr. Jensen was awarded a CAREER award from the National Science Foundation for her research on undergraduate mental health in engineering programs.
