Research Interests
Prof. Fan’s research lies in the interface of engineering, biomedicine, and translation. We develop a variety of miniaturized devices by using physics, photonics, engineering, micro/nanofabrication, and biochemical principles and tools to address unmet clinical needs, and subsequently translate research outcomes into commercially viable products to benefit the whole society. Particularly, we have the following technology platforms:
- Micro-gas chromatography and vapor sensing for breath analysis and body odor analysis.
- Laser emission microscopy.
- Microfluidic platform for rapid and sensitivity detection of biomolecules in the liquid phase.
- Wearable technologies.
