Everyone Is Invited to Hear BME 500 Seminar Guest Speaker Claude M. Steele

Dr. Steele is a social psychologist and a professor of psychology at Stanford University best known for his work on stereotype threat and its application to minority student academic performance.

Stanford Professor and former U-M faculty member Claude M. Steele will be the guest BME 500 seminar speaker on Thursday, April 4, from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. in LBME 1130. BME and the Psychology Department are co-sponsoring Dr. Steele’s visit. 

Dr. Steele is a social psychologist and a professor of psychology at Stanford University. He is best known for his work on stereotype threat and its application to minority student academic performance. In 2010, he released his book, “Whistling Vivaldi and Other Clues to How Stereotypes Affect Us,” summarizing years of research.
