Research Interests

Professor Deng’s lab focuses on research and development in the field of biomedical ultrasound. The objective of the lab is to obtain an improved understanding of the processes and mechanisms involved in ultrasound interaction with biological systems for the purpose of developing efficient techniques for the diagnosis and treatment of human diseases. Specific research projects include ultrasound-mediated drug and gene delivery for cancer treatment and gene therapy, high-intensity focus ultrasound ablation of cardiac arrhythmias such as atrial fibrillation, as well as quantitative ultrasound imaging for improved pancreatic cancer detection.
