Biography

Albert Shih is Professor in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, and Institute of Gerontology at the University of Michigan. After receiving his PhD at Purdue University, he was a manufacturing engineer at Cummins and an Associate Professor at NC State University before joining University of Michigan in 2003. His research focus is on biomedical manufacturing – the application of advanced manufacturing to transform the quality, efficacy, and cost in healthcare. He served in the NIST Advanced Manufacturing National Program Office in 2017.  He is a Fellow of ASME, SME, and CIRP and serves as the Editor-in-Chief of ASME Journal of Manufacturing Science and Engineering.
